How to model and insert an architectural object with precision within a project using a BIM software?
During the architectural planning stage, inserting objects at a specific distance from a fixed point makes the drawing plan simpler and more precise.
Particularly, we will see how to draw an object (for example a wall and a pillar) at a specific distance from two fixed points. In order to follow these steps let’s use the architectural planning design BIM software Edificius.
Inserting a wall in a BIM project
Let’s start with the drawing of a simple building envelope at a specific distance from a fixed point. We continue with selecting the envelope object from the objects menu in Edificius and we set the first reference point on the drawing plan by pressing [A] key on the keyboard and clicking with the left button.
At this point it is possible to establish the direction and measure the distance from the first point clicking with the left button of the mouse on the point where you want to start drawing the object.
In order to make the drawing more precise, it is possible to specify the distance between the first point and the point where to start the drawing of the object directy from the keyboard.
To finalise the drawing of the object and to set the second point of the wall you simply click with the left button of the mouse.
Let’s see now how it is possible to draw in a short time a pillar pointing out more references and directions in Edificius.
Inserting a pillar in a BIM project
Let’s select the Pillar object from the Edificius objects menu and let’s set the first reference point pressing [A] key on the keyboard and clicking with the left button of the mouse.
Now fix several distances between the different points pressing [A] and [Enter] keys on the keyboard. Normally during this operation, it is possible to set the direction.
After setting all the distances and direction it is sufficient to press Enter in order to draw the pillar in the drawing table.
