Things may start to get easier when combining a BIM software for architectural design, integrated with a real-time rendering engine. With this powerful design control tool, the designer can continuously view and control the design process in an extremely realistic manner.<\/p>\n<p>To understand how to model a complex roof top in detail, we&#8217;ll quickly cover all the various modelling steps necessary to re-model the Daegu Gosan Public Library. This particular design was conceived by the US architecture design firm, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.martinfenlon.com\/\"><strong>MARTIN FENLON ARCHITECTURE<\/strong><\/a> that participated in the international competition that was organised for the building of an intriguing bookstore in the city of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Daegu\">Daegu<\/a>, in South Korea.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1654\" style=\"width: 843px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biblus.accasoftware.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/06\/Daegu-Gosan-Library-external-view.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1654\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1654\" src=\"https:\/\/biblus.accasoftware.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/06\/Daegu-Gosan-Library-external-view.jpg\" alt=\"Render of the Daegu Gosan Public Library produced with Edificius\" width=\"833\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1654\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Render of the Daegu Gosan Public Library modelled with Edificius<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In the detail videos, we can see how to create a complex roof top made up of multiple pitched slabs. The import feature &#8220;<strong>DXF\/DWG CAD drawing<\/strong>&#8221; allows us to do this and is available in the &#8220;<strong>2D Graphics<\/strong>&#8221; menu.<\/li>\n<li>00:30 min \u2013 Selecting the &#8220;<strong>ROOF<\/strong>&#8221; slab object in the <strong>ARCHITECTURAL<\/strong> Objects menu, we&#8217;ll simply trace around the perimeter of the roof<\/li>\n<li>00:57 min \u2013 At this point, the roof editor opens for further editing.<\/li>\n<li>02:40 min \u2013 Each section of the pitched slabs are quickly adjusted in terms of inclination using the three-point mode. We&#8217;ll select the building envelopes and in the properties toolbox, assign its &#8220;<strong>Height Reference System<\/strong>&#8221; by choosing the roof as the upper sub-level. You&#8217;ll notice how all of the selected walls are automatically adapted to the ceiling side of the roof structure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Modelling an opening in the roof object<\/h3>\n<p>[fusion_youtube id=&#8221;K2E0PIieItk&#8221; width=&#8221;600&#8243; height=&#8221;&#8221; autoplay=&#8221;false&#8221; api_params=&#8221;&#8221; hide_on_mobile=&#8221;small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility&#8221; class=&#8221;&#8221;][\/fusion_youtube]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>00:00 min \u2013 To define the edge beam that delimits the roof opening, we can see that even flexible modelling objects, such as the &#8220;<strong>Landscaping Wall<\/strong>&#8221; can be disconnected from the terrain level and used for solving <strong>complex modelling issues<\/strong> on the roof. These will then serve for tracing the metallic elements that will serve as a supporting structure for the sunscreens.<\/li>\n<li>04:40 min \u2013 Selecting the &#8220;<strong>Solid Extrusion<\/strong>\u201d object, we can then choose the appropriate profile. An 80&#215;300 mm profile type. Simply add the object and trace a cross section line.
