How to design an access ramp: the step by step procedure, reproduced with a BIM software and inspired by the Marble & Bamboo project<\/p>\n

This week’s i nsight will analyze some architectural solutions from the Marble & Bamboo<\/strong> project, a contemporary residence located in the north of Madrid and built by A-cero studio<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In order to make a better use of a BIM software we will reproduce some planning stages that result of particular interest.<\/p>\n

We will see how the access ramp connecting the basement floor to the main road has been created.<\/p>\n

Marble & Bamboo: the architectural project<\/h3>\n

The Marble&Bamboo project is a single-family residence extending on a rectangular-shaped surface of 2800 sqm and surrounded by numerous oaks and pine trees.<\/p>\n

The building shape has been adapted to the surrounding environment so to be able to preserve pre-existing spaces and vegetation.<\/p>\n

The entire facade has been built in white travertine marble tiles and with bamboo elements creating a volume effect and a colour harmony.<\/p>\n

The construction is built on 3 levels.<\/p>\n

On the ground floor<\/strong> there is the living room area, the kitchen, the closet, the main bedroom and a changing room.<\/p>\n

The rooms on the back side of the residence are directly connected to the external area and to the swimming pool through a strip window that runs along the entire fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n

On the upper floor<\/strong> there are 3 bedrooms with en-suite bathroom.<\/p>\n

The materials have accurately been selected for each area of the house.<\/p>\n

An oak wood floor has been used in the private areas of the first floor for a warmer environment while white polished marble and more sober colours have been chosen for the common areas of the ground floor.<\/p>\n

On the basement level we can find the other services and the garage connected to the main road through an access ramp.
\nThe pedestrian access develops from the ground floor, while from the basement it is possible to access to upper floors through internal stairs.<\/p>\n

The ramp path has a \u201cS\u201d shaped planimetric course going up towards the main road.<\/p>\n

On the ramp sides, a not much sloping escarpment has been created. Vegetation has the purpose of holding the terrain movements and at the same time to embellish the surrounding view.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s see how designers have faced this architectural solution using the software Edificius<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Access ramp implementation with a BIM software<\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s model the access ramp to the garage in the Edificius terrain section by selecting the \u201cRamp\u201d object. In the relative editor we use the (radial) MagneticGrid2D<\/strong> to set up the width of the curved landing and the corresponding snap points.<\/p>\n

In the properties tool-box we insert the ramp by setting up geometric parameters like width, internal radius and the curve angle. We can use several curved ramps with different directions (left sided\/right sided) so to get a \u201cS\u201d shaped planimetric course.<\/p>\n
