De Scarpis project<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"townhouses-or-terraced-houses-definition\"><strong>Townhouses (or Terraced houses): definition<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Townhouses (terraced houses in UK) are a type of building configuration mainly intended for residential uses and consisting of a plurality of housing or single-family cells (at least 3) each placed side by side:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>each housing unit is normally separated by means of <strong>common <\/strong><strong>border <\/strong><strong>wall<\/strong> arranged on the plot boundary;<\/li>\n<li>generally characterized with a <strong>narrow front<\/strong> to gradually grow in depth and height following the floor levels and a small garden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_3896\" style=\"width: 364px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3896\" class=\"wp-image-3896 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/biblus.accasoftware.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/04\/Schema-casa-schiera.jpg\" alt=\"Scheme-townhouses design\" width=\"354\" height=\"182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biblus.accasoftware.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/04\/Schema-casa-schiera.jpg 354w, https:\/\/biblus.accasoftware.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/04\/Schema-casa-schiera-300x154.jpg 300w, https:\/\/biblus.accasoftware.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/04\/Schema-casa-schiera-311x160.jpg 311w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 354px) 100vw, 354px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3896\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Townhouse design with spaces layout<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The standard unit (which is the intermediate unit and not the head unit) is placed next to 2 other cells arranged along the sides.<\/p>\n<p>As a building typology, townhouses are suitable for an <strong>extensive use of the territory<\/strong>, ie areas with a low <strong>building ratio index<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Historically, <em>terraced houses<\/em> have been the building element that has most characterized the expanding of medieval cities: their development is due to the formation of classes of craftsmen who built their homes along access roads forming villages, linear settlements adhering to the route. .They are therefore created in response to the constructive and functional needs of those sections of the population: needs that can be summarized in the need to adopt a <strong>simple<\/strong>, <strong>economic<\/strong> and <strong>tested<\/strong> (therefore reliable) <strong>construction practice<\/strong> and to have space for productive and commercial activities, as well as a modest amount of land for the production of livelihood goods (the forms of self-production and self-consumption characterize the high-medieval period).<\/p>\n<p>Today they have been revisited to <strong>meet the needs of a detached house but with lower costs compared to the single house<\/strong>, both in production and maintenance.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"townhouse-projects\"><strong>T<\/strong><strong>ownhouse<\/strong><strong> p<\/strong><strong>rojects<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The main characteristics for these housing types are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the development on a long and rectangular footprint with a width of 5-6 meters;<\/li>\n<li>the presence of an access road on one side;<\/li>\n<li>two walls in common with the units side by side;<\/li>\n<li>a vertical development from ground to sky;<\/li>\n<li>independent entrances;<\/li>\n<li>private spaces of outdoor relevance;<\/li>\n<li>aggregation by partial or total lateral approach in a transverse direction;<\/li>\n<li>only two fronts, the front and the rear, in contact with the outside.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The typical form of terraced houses is rectangular in shape, similar to a parallelepiped. Usually the transverse partitions separating one housing and the other are used as load bearers, if the spacing between them is reasonable for the direct floor inter-connection purposes (between 3 and 6m).<br \/>\nIn this hypothesis, it would be appropriate to adopt a very compact solution for the staircase, or a straight ramp arranged in the direction of the floor or, for shorter beam spans, so as to simplify the realization of horizontal partitions internal (floors) in order to optimize the various openings.<\/p>\n<p>Another important variable for the definition of the floor plans is given by the <strong>garage<\/strong>. It can be external or internal to the main body. In the case of it being external, it can be detached or adjacent and connected.
