buildingSMART International has announced the winners of the 2018 buildingSMART International Awards held in Tokio: here are the names

The 2018 edition of buildingSMART International Award was held in Tokyo.

buildingSMART International is an international standardization organization which aims to improve the exchange of information between software applications through the OPEN BIM.

The international event recognizes the best companies that have developed projects with OPEN BIM solutions for design, building and resources management in the construction industry. The annual award, therefore, recognizes the extraordinary work done on real projects that adopt and use BIM standards and solutions.

During the award cerimony within the “International Standards Summit Conference” held in Tokyo, Japan, bSI recognized 4 Award winners and 6 Special Distinctions.

37 independent jurors, selected from a variety of different backgrounds, were assigned the task to assess the various project submissions. The winners were chosen from more than 80 candidates and from many different countries.

The awards were arranged in four categories:

  • Design
  • Construction
  • Operations and Maintenance
  • Student Research

The projects that received the Special Distinction award demonstrated excellence and innovation in the use and adoption of buildingSMART standards and solutions. These winners were chosen by a group of independent experts.
