Drawing models with a BIM software

Drawing models with a BIM software. Print and export drawing models

How to generate, customize, print and export drawing models with a BIM software for architectural design

One of the great advantages of 3D Architectural design is to be able to obtain drawings and project documentation (area plans, floor plans, cross-sections, elevation views, isometric-views, perspectives, project reports, comparison tables, tables and schedules) automatically.
You can in fact create, personalize, print, and export all of these construction documents with great ease and compose the working drawings in absolute freedom, thanks to simple Drag & Drop operations from the project navigator to the Project layout.

Export all graphical content in the DXF/DWG CAD file formats as well as the project reports in the RTF text file format.
The BIM methodology also provides specific procedures for importing and exporting in the standard IFC format. A very important aspect when having to satisfy the need of exchanging information and model data, regardless of the software used.

All working drawings are automatically composed by the software with the General Data and further detailing can be achieved by adding custom graphics and text elements.
Working drawings are then saved within the project and can always be re-used.

Let’s start off by simply creating the various project views, such as, cross-sections and elevation views of an Edificius project.
After completing the modelling process, adding 2D Graphical objects, available in the online catalogue, we can easily generate the relating project drawing models.

These drawings are automatically generated by simply placing the relating “Drawing Model” object in the various Levels that form the building. Adding a Floor Plan, Cross-section view or Elevation view simply adds a new Drawing Node under the relating section in the Program’s Project Navigator. No need to worry about anything else. Edificius does it all for you allowing you to simply choose between various illustration styles, shadow settings or add construction details for extra professionalism.

Let’s see how.
